Macs with a screen resolution of 2048×1536 are now available in the US, and that’s great news for anyone looking for a new monitor to complement their existing Mac.
Unfortunately, those screens are still available for $999, $2,399, and $3,999.
Those are the lowest prices for a 1920×1080 display that’s a bit pricier than the $2.4 million price tag on a 1080p IPS monitor, but the 1080p panel offers much better contrast and color reproduction, and the panel is a bit thinner than the 1080i.
The only downside is that it’s a non-Retina panel, which is no longer a common feature.
Apple has said it’s still working on making the new panels more “retina,” so there’s a chance we’ll see 1080p screens on Macs soon.
